Do you throw your annual pension statements in a drawer and just forget about them?
It’s easy to lose track of pension funds over the years, especially if you’ve changed jobs a few times and paid into a series of pension schemes during your working life. You may also have opted out of SERPS and have a fund accumulating that you don’t know about.
Our simple three-step process will provide all the information you need to rediscover your missing pension funds
1. Gather the information
When you call us, we’ll arrange a suitable time for our first meeting – either at our offices or in your home – at a time to suit you. Or, if you don’t live locally, we can make arrangements over the phone and send you the relevant forms by post. Distance is no barrier to our service – we have successfully traced the pensions of clients in Portugal, Turkey and even Uganda!
Whether face-to-face or by post, we’ll gather the information we need to find your missing funds, including details of your previous jobs, addresses and the schemes you think you’ve paid into. At this stage we’ll ask you to sign a letter of authorisation, giving us permission to search for your funds.
2. Search for your funds
We’ll then use our extensive resources to search for any missing funds that you have contributed to, whether through private or company schemes. We can access the Pensions Scheme registry, which details around 200,000 schemes, and we’ll obtain your work and contributions records.
3. Report back on our findings
Once we’ve conducted a thorough search, we’ll come back to you with full details of any pension schemes in your name, including the amounts held in those schemes, any plan guarantees and existing charges. We’ll explain everything in clear, jargon-free terms, so you’ll know exactly where you stand.
Our service is completely free of charge – and there is no obligation on you to do anything with the information we provide.
Advice on getting the most from your funds
Because Pension Trace is not FSA-regulated, we cannot offer any advice on what to do with the funds we uncover. However, we can put you in touch with our recommended independent financial advisers – Channel One – who can help you to maximise the value of your funds. Such advice can be vital in making sure you use the money wisely to give you the best possible returns in your retirement.
